A hatrick from Indra Putra Mahayuddin and a goal each from Mohamad Ghaddar, Badri Radzi and Nurul Azwan Roya were enough for the defending champions to top the league again, regardless of the outcome in their two remaining matches.

Kelantan were on an attacking mode from first whistle, eager to please the capacity crowd at the stadium, and they could have found an opening goal in the fifth minute if Nurul was a little more accurate with his shot.

The floodgate was opened for the homeside in the 16th minute when Indra who was at the end of Norfarhan Mohamad's pass, managed to steer his shot past goalkeeper Nasri Nordin and into the back of the net.

Two minutes later, Indra turned provider for Ghaddar and the Lebanese striker made no mistake from close range.

Ghaddar had an opportunity to score again four minutes later if not for his awkward positioning to receive the pass from Norfarhan but captain Badri was nearby to complete the task and gave Kelantan a three goals cushion.

In the 29th minute, Badri provided an assist by crossing the ball at just the right height for Indra to head in Kelantan's fourth and his second goal on the night.

Indra was again involved in the 38th minute, this time by providing a cross in the path of Nurul and the attacking midfielder made it count from close range.

If that was not bad enough for Perak, they were down to ten men just before the break when captain Shahrul Nizam Mustaffa was shown a straight red card for what looked like a slap on Ghaddar's face.

It was more of the same after the break and Indra only needed to wait two minutes to make his move and danced his way past three defenders in the penalty box before completing his hat-trick.

The defeat in Kota Baru allowed Selangor who comfortably beat Kuala Lumpur 4-0, to take over Perak's position in third place behind Lions XII.

Perak now have to look over their shoulders for Terengganu who are now a single point behind them after the East Coast team won 3-1 agains Sabah.

Terengganu found an early goal in the fourth minute at Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu through Joseph Kallang Tie but three minutes later, Rozaimi Abd Rahman levelled the score for the homeside.

But the visitors were ahead again when Ashaari Shamsuddin scored just before the break before an own goal from Sabah 10 minutes from time, gave Terengganu a 3-1 win to keep their two-match winning streak going.

In Kuala Terengganu, T-Team prevented a slide down the league table after coming back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Johore FC.

Former T-Team player Haris Safwan Kamal came back to terrorise the homeside when scored in the 31st minute but Fazli Shaari managed to restore order in the 56th minute.

Felda United FC also eased their relegation fear with a 1-0 victory over Selangor PKNS in Petaling Jaya while Kedah are still pegged to the bottom three after losing 2-0 to Negri Sembilan.

The Riel Thoughts: Malaysia to play Singapore

Posted: 25 Mar 2012 12:19 PM PDT

Malaysia who recently down 2 steps backward to 152th place in FIFA ranking are set to play in 2 series of matches against Singapore. I assume our national coach Dato Rajagopal must already fed-up with all warm up matches against clubs or perhaps he has fulfilled his quota matches against domestic clubs, doesn't he?
According to press interview, I agreed if we could repeat match against India and Philippines at our own turf, however i do not think the Aussies would ever entertained us after disastrous display against them with 0-5 scoreline.
Trying new face is not a reason any longer, thus it is not a valid. Please stop this nonsense and another nonsense by pulling out so many matches against clubs!!!!
Ranking is not an everything for some, but to me i believe that to have good seeding in any competitions especially in Asian region or World Cup qualifier is to have very decent ranking. So, is it by arranging a warm up matches against clubs would do any good to national squad? No, it is not!
Secondly, why and why is that too many new faces come in and out from national team? I am not national coach that is why certain clear i cannot question DatoRajagobal for his selection policy, am i? But clear thinking, if all first eleven who had lifted our very first AFF Suzuki Cup dont play much and frequently, how can they polish their understanding in their game play?
I seldomly seen Baddrol Bakhtiar, Ashaari Shamsuddin, or even Khyril Muhaimeen playing with national team recently when in fact they playing very good with their own team.
Calling back Syed Adney against Sarawak last night? Owh,come on....the best 3 keeper we have at the moment are Khairul Fahmi, Farizal Marlias and Nasril Nourdin. I opened for the latter but Syed Adney? Has he lost his mind?

mad redo1's sportpages & a few other things: Losing Streak...

Posted: 11 Feb 2012 11:15 AM PST

...Halted

PBDKT T-Team halted their losing streak of three consecutive matches last night with a 2-0 win over Super League leaders, Perak at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu. The result saw The Buffaloes relinquishing their position to Kelantan who defeated Terengganu 2-1 in the 'East Coast Derby' played at the Sultan Mohamad IV Stadium in Kota Bharu.

T-Team who had done away with the service of the under-performing Zachariah Simukonda started aggressively in front of a few hundred spectators who decided to come to the stadium instead of watching the 'live' telecast of the 'East Coast Derby'.

Perak did not offer much in their play. Most of the time they would fire long balls into the opponent's area, trying to find the tall Lazar Popovic who would bring his team-mates into play with the second ball. They were also seen relying on Michal Kubala to produce his long distance shooting in order to breach the T-Team defence.

The home side seemed comfortable in neutralizing these threats with Bojan Petric being commanding in defence with Norfazly Alias. After a scoreless first half, it took only eleven minutes for the stale-mate to be broken.

T-Team forced a series of corners and from of of these set-pieces saw Petric heading home from close range after the initial header by Faiz Subri was blocked on the line by a Perak player. It was the Bosnian first competitive goal in Malaysia.

Perak should have been more aggressive after going a goal down but their lack of creativity proved to be their downfall. Then two minutes from time, referee Suhaizi Shukri awarded a rather soft penalty to T-Team after Perak defender, Muhamad Shahrom was jusdged to have brought down T-Team substitute, Khairul Izwan inside the penalty area.

Skipper Zairo Anuar Zalani stepped up and had no problem beating Nasril Nourdin to score his seventh goal of the season, keeping him on top of the goal-scorers' charts. His team meanwhile climbed one spot to sixth.

Meanwhile in Kota Bharu, the home fans had to wait until the 37th minute before seeing their team going ahead. Even then Norshahrul Idlan Talaha's goal had a large slice of luck going with it as his shot was going away from goal until it hit Terengganu skipper Mazuki Yusof in the abdomen and went into the net, with Sharbinee Allawee already committed.

Then in the 52nd minute The Stags went two goals ahead went a quick counter-attack saw the ball being delivered into the penalty area where Indra Putra Mahyuddin headed the cross into the path of his skipper, Badhri Radzi who had the simple task of heading the ball into the net.

The Turtles tried to stage a fightback but could only score as the match went into stoppage time when Ashaari Shamsuddin's side-footed effort went in off the bar, spoiling Khairul Fahmi's effort to keep a clean sheet against the 'Old Enemy'.

At the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore, Lions XII went up to fourth after defeating Negeri Sembilan 3-1. Two goals by their skipper, Shahril Ishak in the 31st and 60th minutes sandwiched Shahdan Sulaiman's strike in the 50th minute. Mohamad Firdaus Azizul replied for The Deers in the 90th minute.

Perhaps the night's biggest upset was Selangor 2-0 loss against PKNS FC at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya. It was The Red Giants' second defeat of the season while goals from former Selangor player, Rudie Ramlie on the half hour mark and Helmi Remeli on the hour mark saw the club side registering their first win of the season.

In Kuching, Sarawak used their home advantage to beat Felda United 2-1. It was The Crocs second win of the season. Goals from Vedran Muratovic and Asri Chuchu won them the match despite Firdaus Faudzi reducing the deficit for The Settlers.

Home advantage did not come into the picture when Kuala Lumpur took on Kedah at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka. The City Boys remained the only team without a win this season when Johor FC beat them 2-0. Former T-team striker, Haris Safwan Kamal opened his account for The Bees in the sixth minute before Jasazrin Jamaluddin confirmed all three points seven minutes from time.

Waiting game for Nazmi | News

Posted: 29 May 2012 03:07 PM PDT

.

Nazmi Faiz Mansor is not in the immediate plans of coach Rajagobal.

NAZMI Faiz Mansor may have to wait a little longer to earn his first cap with the national team.

Coach K. Rajagobal will only consider Nazmi for the AFF Cup in November if he performs well in next month's AFF Under-22 Qualifiers before taking into consideration his commitment with Portuguese Premier League side Beira-Mar.

The midfielder, a member of Young Tigers 'A' who play in the S-League, signed a pre-contract agreement for a three-year deal with the club last week.

The 17-year-old will return to the club's base in Aveiro in August to sign a permanent deal for three seasons.

"I do not want to pressure Nazmi as he is still young. He has a bright future and I believe he will eventually break into the senior team," said Rajagobal yesterday.

"I will, however, monitor his progress at the AFC Under-22 Qualifiers and if he does well, I will consider him for the AFF Cup.

"Besides that, I need to know what are his commitments with Beira-Mar over the next few months. The door is still open to anyone who makes a strong impression."

Rajagobal named a 26-member squad for next month's 'A' international friendly matches.

Malaysia will face the Philippines on Friday before taking on Singapore in a two-legged friendly on June 8 and 12.

"I will use these matches to trim my squad for the AFF Cup. The last batch of trainees from Kelantan reported for training yesterday (Sunday). I have a full squad to work with before I finalise my team for the friendly against the Philippines," said Rajagobal.

Among those in the squad are Safee, Norshahrul Idlan Talaha, Safiq Rahim. K. Gurusamy, S. Kunalan, Ashaari Shamsuddin, Amar Rohidan, Mahalli Jasuli, Mohd Fadhli Shas, Mohd Aidil Zafuan and Khairul Fahmi Che Mat.

"I have finally picked most of the core players after testing out more than 60 players since the start of the year.

"It is important that they peak accordingly for the AFF Cup as it is our priority tournament. I want them to start performing consistently and most importantly, remain injury-free," Rajagobal added.
