| Malaysia Super League Matchday 6 Round Up - Teh Tarik Football Posted: 16 Feb 2013 08:49 AM PST Updated: February 17, 2013 By Keeshaanan Sundaresan After a three week hiatus, the Malaysian Super League resumed this weekend with several interesting match-ups. Selangor were hosting Kelantan in what was a titanic clash at the Shah Alam Stadium, while high flying Pahang faced LionsXII in Singapore. Four other interesting matches were also in place and every single game provided maximum entertaintment this weekend. On Friday evening, Perak took Terengganu at the Sultan Nasiruddin Ismail Shah stadium in Kuala Terengganu. The Seladangs have been a very interesting side to watch this season, as they possess a very strong defence but a rather weak attack. However, Terengganu outclassed them this time around, claiming their first victory of the season with a 2-0 win over Azraai Khor's men. Ashaari Shamsuddin and Jean Emmanuel Effa Owona netted the two goals on the day as the Turtles finally got their season back on track after a bad run. Meanwhile, Selangor were hosting Kelantan in a high profile match in Shah Alam but while many expected it to be a tightly contested affair, there was really only one side that showed up on Friday night. The Red Giants romped to an emphatic 2-0 victory over the Red Giants, with goals from Francis Forkey Doe and Ramez Dayoub. Irfan Bakti's men totally deserved the victory and they look very strong for the league title this year. The victory also pushed them into top spot of the league table. Then on Saturday, PKNS FC faced Felda United in Petaling Jaya with the home side claiming a 3-1 victory. Helmi Remeli gave PKNS an early lead before Ghaddar equalized for the Settlers midway through the match. Patrick Ronaldhino restored the lead for PKNS just before half time and Nazrin Syamsul fired home after the break to give PKNS a morale-boosting win. Johor Darul Takzim hosted T-Team FC on Saturday night, with the likes of Norshahrul, Safee Sali and Simone Del Nero all returning from injury. But they did struggle to break down Peter Butler's T-Team side, who looked solid defensively. Dani Guiza did get the only goal of the game in the first half but they failed to add to the tally. Regardless, a win is always a win and Fandi Ahmad was ecstatic with three points on the day. Besides that, Pahang suffered a 3-0 defeat to LionsXII in Singapore, which as hugely unexpected considering their impressive form this season. Nevertheless, the Singaporeans were rampant from the beginning as well, taking the game to the Tok Gajahs. Ultimately, goals from Faris Ramli, Safuwan Baharuddin and Fazrul Nawaz was more than enough to secure a third home victory for V. Sundramoorthy's troops. Lastly, ATM faced Negeri Sembilan at the Paroi Stadium in Seremban and the match ended 1-1. Firdauz Azizul gave Negeri the lead in the first half, after he found the net on the 34th minute. However, the Gladiators did not give up and finally restored parity through Nor Fazly in the 89th minute, to ensure that both sides went home with one point apiece. |
